Electromechanical transient modeling research of energy storage system based on power system security and stability analysis

From the perspective of power system security and stability analysis, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) system were studied, and electromechanical transient models for grid connecting analysis were founded. The model of BESS consists of one-rank general battery model, grid connecting converter and control models. The model of CAES system, which is divided into storage sub system model and generating sub system model, is based on complement-fired CAES system, and it is focused on interface model of CAES system and power grid. These models could be used to simulate normal and abnormal dynamic characteristics of power system after Energy Storage (ES) system connected to the grid. By simulating and analyzing results of case system with ES system models, the models' correction was theoretically verified, and effect of improving system safety and stability using ES systems was also simulated. These models provide simulation methods for studying ES system characteristics, and also provide necessary technical supports to the security and stability when integrating renewable energy and ES into power grid.
