An improved method for the reconstruction of lossy dielectric objects

In this article we present a modified version of the time-domain distorted Born iterative method (TDDBIM), based on the frequency-compensating technique (FCT), for the reconstruction of lossy dielectric objects. The FCT is applied to improve the ill-posed characteristics of the inverse problems and to speed up the convergence of the TDDBIM. Numerical results for the reconstruction of two-dimensional lossy objects show that the algorithm is very effective in improving the rate of convergence of the TDDBIM. Furthermore, the modified algorithm performs well even in the presence of a 20-dB signal-to-noise ratio and does not impose an additional burden on the CPU. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
