Hypertext Processing: Can We Forget Textual Psycholinguistics?

In this paper I would like to present some reflections about the psycholinguistic processing of hypermedia, and to illustrate them with empirical data produced in our laboratory. Only the restricted instance of hypertexts (a word we should only apply to texts, accordingly with Harland, 1990), among the various types of hypermedia, will be considered in my presentation, with a focus on comprehension processes (read-only use).
