Propulsion Motor Drive Topology Selection for Further Development of ISEAUTO Self-Driving Car

Studies on self-driving cars are growing popularity nowadays. It is a multidisciplinary topic, which includes artificial intelligence, communication systems, control algorithms, electrical and mechanical applications, etc. A lot of effort is put on the objects recognition and artificial intelligence learning topics, however, the propulsion motor drive of such vehicles also requires special attention. This paper discusses the main pitfalls of using an existing platform as a body of the self-driving car and provides solutions used in the first Estonian self-driving car ISEAUTO. Special attention is put on parametrization and dimensioning of traction motor for the future development of ISEAUTO platform.
