Fiber Interferometric Sensors for Monitoring the Telecom Infrastructure Integrity

Fiber sensing can be used for structural health monitoring and for diagnostics and surveillance of the infrastructure integrity by giving sensing functionalities to the fiber cables, already deployed for telecom purposes. Their sustainability in system implementation and data processing is achieved by means of a suitable interferometric approach, assuring the coexistence of telecom data propagation with sensing signals.
