Design and implementation of conference scheduling and voting facilities for a multi-media conferencing system

The design and implementation of a meeting scheduler for a multimedia conferencing system is described in this paper. Participants can schedule meetings automatically, using the scheduler or through the process of voting. The scheduling algorithm is an enhanced version of Sugihara et al's (1989) timetable rearrangement heuristic. The modification consists of adding the notion of private meetings, eliminating the requirement for predefined groups, and the provision of priority levels. The voting manager uses the preference voting algorithm to determine the user's preference.<<ETX>>
