Spectroscopy of Eu:YAG nanopowders

YAG:Eu nanopowders were synthesized by a nitrate-citrate sol-gel method. The morphologic modifications produced by thermal treatments at various temperatures were monitored by a series of parameters obtained from the optical fluorescence spectroscopy: intensity ratio of the transitions 5D0 7F2 and 5D0 7F1, the maximum splitting of the 7F1 level, and the linewidths of some fluorescence transitions. Abrupt changes of the monitored parameters are observed at the amorphous-crystalline transition. (© 2007 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
