A single blow, transient testing method for determining the heat transfer characteristics of heat exchanger surfaces are presented. The transient technique taking care of the longitudinal heat conduction effect is developed in which an experimentally determined T*_(f.1)(θ*) is used as the inlet fluid temperature condition. The exponential inlet temperature variations are made using screen mesh with small time constant and frontal velocities of the test section. The test results are compared with the existing theoretical and experimental data. The validity of this technique is confirmed by the good agreement.
