Effects ofPVGrid-Connected System Location on aDistribution System

The grid-connected photovoltaic (PV)power generation systemisexpected to be morewidespread in distribution systems duetoincreasing fossil-fuel cost. Recent advances inPV technology andgreatdemandhasledtocost reductions. Thispaperpresents theeffects ofPV system installation location onthepowerquality ofthedistribution system. A measurement setupisprepared fora PV grid- connected system. Thesystem consists ofaPV arrayandagrid- connected inverter. Themeasured dataareusedtoinvestigate the effects ofaPV system. A feeder line withPV system issimulated inMatlab. Thisstudyfocuses onbothradial andloopoperated distribution system. Thedistribution system's powerquality, in termsofvoltage, active power,total losses, andpowerfactor of thenetworkarepresented. Thesimulation results showthat implementation ofthePV grid-connected systemcouldimprove thepowerquality ofadistribution feeder.
