Scale of Distance Learners'Learning Motivation Development and Initial Application

Based on literature reviews, questionnaire of distance learners' motivations was made up and 250 distance learners were surveyed. The questionnaire included cognitive internal drive, ego-enhancement drive and affiliated drive, which was of good internal consistency coefficient and constructs validity. Initial results showed cognitive internal drive (49.3%) and ego-enhancement drive (34.7%) were the main motivation of distance learners, which were internal motivation and external motivation. That meant distance learners were affected by one motivation , even by two or more motivation. The research would give referenced guidance for improving distance teaching.
