The research on distribution network health index based on real-time information record

In this paper, real-time information record mainly includes real-time current and voltage waveform record, switch signal record, traveling wave record and weather condition record. When distribution network works in different states, the detected current and voltage waveform also are different. To some degree, waveforms can reveal a lot not only the real-time operating state of distribution network, but they give some clues about predictive operating state. Also under different weather condition, the performance of network might be distinguishing. As we all know, plenty of useful information could be obtained by analysis of traveling wave. Traveling wave information can be used to make traveling wave protection, locate faults with high precision (including measurement of the distance and fault line selection). Synthesizing the positive information, a concept named Health Index (HI) is put forward which reflects the current operating state and gives a hint for future operating state. With the help of HI, outages and equipment failures might be able to be prevented before they occur, also a much more efficient maintenance strategy could be adopted.
