Multimodality Image Fusion for the 3D Visualization and Analysis of Complex Medical Image Information

Purpose In this exhibit we will demonstrate the image fusion, model generating, and 3D visualization capacity of our in-house developed, portable (Sun, PC, Linux) software platform, the "3D Slicer." The overwhelming capabilities of diagnostic imaging enable a more thorough analysis of pathologic processes and their anatomical and functional impact on the adjacent brain. A comprehensive appreciation of the inherent information, however, becomes increasingly difficult. To allow an intuitive comparison and spatial visualization, we developed a software platform, which allows image fusion of multiple diagnostic studies and their subsequent spatial 3D visualization.
