On Link Validity and Entity Resolution

The Entity Resolution problem has been widely addressed in the literature. The problem takes as input a knowledge base composed of entities and relationships amongst them and outputs the (set of) knowledge base entities corresponding to the real world entity it aims to represent. However, none of the approaches in the literature question the validity of certain relationships (denoted as links) between entities. In this report we highlight this new aspect of ''link validity'' in knowledge bases and show why Entity Resolution approaches should take this aspect into consideration. We propose a clustering based approach for link validation and propose link repairing techniques for certain cases.
