Digitized lecture notes : An E-learning tool for students

Digitization is one of the hot topics in librarianship today. To build a digital library requires that the content of a collection be available electronically. The digital library has got a significant role to play in assisting effective e-learning process. E-learning makes it possible for students to learn the subject according to their customization, anytime anywhere. In such an environment, students are enabled to access universal knowledge and to get information straight from the source. This paper explains issues involved in digitization of documents particularly focused on lecture notes prepared by college faculty. By proper digitization and value additions, digitized lecture notes would become an effective E-learning tool for the learner community. This paper throws light on developing a subject specific information resource in the form of collection of lecture notes on Genetics.
