Monolithic GaAs direct-coupled amplifiers

Monolithic GaAs dc-coupled amplifiers with bandwidths up to 5 GHz are described. The multistage amplifiers include designs having 25-dB gain with 2-GHz bandwidth and 10-dB gain with 5-GHz bandwidth. Analysis of gain, bandwidth, and noise agrees with measurements. Distortion mechanisms are discussed, along with the performance of a low-distortion amplifier.
