A study on the growth comparisons of triploid of Haliotis discus Reeve

The triploid population obtained by Cytochalasin B induction in 1997-October and the diploid of Haliotis discus Reeve were raised indoor. We compare their growths and the results are as follows:(1)There is no obvious difference between the triploidy and the diploidy of young abalone in the increase of shell length and total weight in the first 14 months age.(2)There is significant difference between the triploidy and the diploidy of abalone in the increase of shell length and total weight in the 14 months age later:The increase of shell length and total weight of triploidy abalone are faster than that of the diploidy abalone. Our attention has been called to the fact that the shell length of the triploidy abalone raised for two years is 14.76% longer than the diploidy abalone, and its total weight is 50.19% heavier than the diploidy abalone in the correspounding time. The shell length of the triploidy abalone raised for 30 months age is 20.00% longer than the diploidy abalone and its total weight is 41.02% heavier than the diploidy abalone respectively.(3)Up to commodity standard for 6 cm shell length, the triploidy abalone has only been raised for 26 months age but diploidy abalone must have been raised for 30 months age.(4)There is no difference between the triploidy and the diploidy of young abalone in amino acid composing, but the gross content of amino acid in the triploidy is higher than that in the diploidy.
