The Human Eye

The human eye is typical of the mammalian eye in general, although variations occur in many species. In man, the eyes lie beneath the level of the brows. Each is contained within a rounded cavity in the skull, known as the orbit, with the nasal bones lying between them. The eyeball is practically spherical and resembles a globe from which a fifth part of the circumference is missing. Into the aperture is fitted a clear but slightly smaller segment.
