Research on waste strategy and waste reduction in UK

As the implement of EU Landfill Directive in 1999, UK Launched Waste Strategy 2000 for England and Wales to develop waste management strategy for the next 15 years. After the implementation of EU Waste Framework Directive, UK again launched Waste Strategy 2007. According to the statistics published on September 2014, UK domestic waste in 2012 reduced 542 000 tons, solid waste recycling rate increased to 43.9%, biodegradable garbage landfill reduced by 2.689 million tons, compared to 2010. UK Waste Strategies got a remarkable achievement in promoting waste reduction, which provide useful experiences for China in making national strategy of waste reduction.
