Full scale testing and modelling of permanent deformation in asphalt pavements

The article discusses the damaging effects of various wheel configurations of permanent deformation or rutting of asphalt pavements. Accelerated tests were performed in a cooperative effort of the Dutch Ministry of Transport and the Delft University of Technology using the LINTRAK pavement testing facility. The test facility, the test pavements, and the types of loads that were applied to the test sections are described. The test results are analyzed, and the article provides conclusions drawn based on the analysis.
