Repellents for adult tribolium confusum mandelates

Twelve of 28 esters of mandelic acid (a-hydroxybenzeneacetic acid): had average repellency ratings against adult Tribolium confusum Jacqelin Duval that exceeded that of the standard, pyrethins + piperonyl butoxide (a-(2-(2-butoxyethoxy)ethoxy)-4, 5-(methylenedioxy)-2-propyltoluene). The homologous series, hexyl, through dodecyl mandelate, were particularly effective; nonyl and decyl mandelate still exhibited ca. 80per thousand repellency after 2 months
