Communication among honey bees with field experience.

Abstract 1. (1) Bees readily learn the locations of consistently yielding food sources and their associated odour(s). 2. (2) Experienced bees require only the scent (s) of a familiar source for efficient recruitment to that location. 3. (3) Experienced bees which attend dancers are recruited to the source at which they had earlier success and not necessarily to locations indicated by the dance information. 4. (4) The conditioned responses of experienced bees can account for much of a colony's routine exploitation of crop sources.
