Alcohol and occupational injuries among older workers.

Although there is an extensive literature linking alcohol use to a wide variety of injuries, relatively little research has focused on the association between alcohol and occupational injuries. Recently, some work has been done on risk factors for occupational injuries among workers aged 51 to 61 years. This paper examines the relationship between alcohol use and occupational injury more closely, attempting to validate an earlier model in a nationally representative sample of older workers. In particular, the authors assess the association between responses to an alcoholism screening questionnaire, a self-report of average daily alcohol consumption, and the occurrence of an occupational injury within the last year.
