Advertising Age print edition began in 1930, and in the early 1990s the Web site was introduced. Advertising Age was one of the first business magazines to publish an online edition. AdAge.com led the way in its commitment to the Web and its marketing/advertising value. In 1996, AdAge.com 2.0 was launched boasting three daily news feeds, exclusive marketing industry data, a search engine, and a proprietary ad banner delivery system. Today Adage.com is a huge site with links to other useful advertising sites and great content available to users either for free or a small fee and also some content available only to subscribers. Both the print version and online edition of Advertising Age provide information about the industry and economy. The print version is famous for its lists like the “100 Leading National Advertisers” and AdAge.com continues that tradition with many different lists and rankings. Although similar, AdAge.com does not contain the full editorial content of the print edition. However, text-only articles from the print publication are available two weeks after the publication date. The archives are searchable through the “Master Search” feature and accessed through “Ad Age PayPoints.” The archives also contain articles back to the early 1990s. The purpose of this article is to present an overview of the AdAge.com site.
