L'ecriture dans la representation de la langue : la lettre et le mot en arabe

Is writing -in the graphic meaning of the term - "inner" or "outer" to the system of language ? natural languages are considered here as cognitive systems structurally compatible with their various manifesta- tions, i. E. , mainly, oral and written production and recognition. The basic unities of writing, as studied by graphemology, are letters, graphemes and grphic words. As far as arabic is concerned, these unities are considered through the reading of texts pertraining to the medieval arabic sciences of language (foundation of the letter, of the word). An axiomatic analysis of the graphic word in arabic is then developed, both in the perspective of linguistic modelisation, and atomated processing of natural languages.
