The analysis of positioning accuracy based on range and angle measurements

This paper investigates the problem on the analysis of positioning accuracy for underwater positioning systems based on range and angle measurements. According to the range and angle measurements between sensor and target, we establish the positioning model in 2-dimensional (2D). By analyzing this position model, the relationship among position error of sensor, measurement error of range, measurement error of angle and positioning error of target is clarified. The positioning metric function is designed to metric the positioning accuracy. By analyzing the positioning metric function, the factors influencing the positioning accuracy are revealed. Simulation results based on Monte Carlo method illustrate the correctness and effectiveness of the conclusions.
