GROWING CELLULAR SYSTEMS: GENERATION OF GRAPHS BY PARALLEL REWRITING

Parallel graph generating systems have been constructed for the purpose of multidimensional simulation of developing multicellular organisms. They are extensions of the previously studied parallel string generating systems (L systems). They are discussed from the mathematical and the biological point of view.
