The Accuracy Improvement of Machine Tools

This study deals with endeavours toward improving accuracy of machine tools through compensation for thermal drift and load-induced deflection. The spatial displacement of the tool and workpiece, caused by the above said factors, is expressed in terms of temperatures of various parts of machine tool for thermal drift and in terns of forces and loading angles to the spindle for load-induced deflection. Simplified experiments based on the above said compensation have been done. This gave considerable accuracy improvement on a small-scale milling machine.
