Single and multiple projectile L-vacancy production in small impact parameter collisions determined from coincidence measurements

One photon- and two photon-one scattered particle coincidences have been measured in 1.4 MeV N-1 U+Sn collisions. On the basis of a statistical analysis of these data the single and multiple U L vacancy production probability per scattered projectile is discussed. It is shown that multiple vacancy production processes strongly influence the single coincidence yield especially in collisions at those impact parameters where the single production probability becomes large.
