Modelling the effect of take-up location on conveyor belt performance

The operation of a belt conveyor under varying temperature and load conditions calls for careful evaluation of the pre-tensioning device location to minimise adverse conditions such as drive slip and high sag with associated material spillage. In longer belts these conditions become more difficult to control. The paper discusses the running behaviour of long belts in relation to take-up position in the conveyor system.
