Inter-MAC concept for gigabit home networks

The media richness of the services available to the end consumer has had a constant increase rate of about 8% per year over the last century. Therefore, a major bottleneck risk, namely that the home network jeopardizes the quality of experience (QoE) of future services, urges to have an appropriate Gigabit solution available for home networks. In this paper we point out the challenges of future gigabit home networks and we describe the Inter-MAC solution proposed in the OMEGA European Project for technology convergence inside the home network.
