LED over-current protection method and device

The invention provides an LED over-current protection method and device. The LED over-current protection method comprises the steps that according to the present state of an LED of each channel, the model and the string number of the LED of a firmware upgrade coding schedule are configured; according to the model and the string number of the LED of the channel, the maximum theoretical current value of the channel is computed; according to the maximum theoretical current value of the channel and a preset maximum current value of the channel, the maximum practical current value of the channel is determined; according to the maximum practical current value of the channel, over-current protection is conducted on the LED. The invention further provides the LED over-current protection device. According to the LED over-current protection method and device, the maximum practical current value of each channel is generated through the firmware upgrade coding schedule, over-current protection is conducted on the LED through the maximum practical current value, and therefore firmware upgrade does not need to be frequently conducted on the LED over-current protection device.
