Guillain–Barré syndrome in pregnancy

Acute polyneuritis is uncommon as a complication at any stage of pregnancy l-5 and the respiratory form complicating late pregnancy and delivery has been reported infrequently49 6 8. This report is of the third recorded case in which a live child was obtained under conditions where respiratory paralysis necessitated intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV). The mother died subsequently of a complication of the tracheostomy.
