Sampling and analysis of radioactive solutions

For the sampling of solutions of spent reactor fuels, a new microsample-loading technique has been developed that involves the use of anion resin beads. The quantities adsorbed are small (1 to 3 mg of each element), U and Pu are separated from fission products and most other actinides, and each bead is loaded into a filament for mass spectroscopy. This metal can be adapted to international safeguards programs. (DLC)
