This research aims to analyze the use of glass cockpit systems in small aircraft with regard to operational safety issues. For the development of the proposed research, a bibliographic and documentary research was carried out, searching from books, articles, official documents, legislation and norms the necessary basis for the development of the study. This research is qualitative in nature and is classified as descriptive as to its ends and as bibliographic and documentary as to its means. For the development of the study were considered books of the Aeronautical Sciences area, seeking the necessary background for understanding about the use of technologies for operational safety in small aircraft. Official research documents were used, such as: Documents from the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA); Documents of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC); Reports about digital panels (Glass Cockpit), online, magazines, documentaries, etc .; National Trasnportation Safety Board (NTSB) documents; and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) document. For analysis of the data collected during the research the content analysis was used. In concluding the research, it is concluded that although the introduction of glass cockpits has resulted in safer aviation overall, there are some things pilots need to be aware of. This can usually be overcome with awareness of problems and also with the active attempt to maintain situational awareness. It can be concluded that they will certainly become a standard in small aircraft and, despite their potential for increased safety, pilot-specific training for their operation is a key factor in ensuring this safety.
