Voltage impacts from distributed photovoltaics on two distribution feeders

This paper discusses two feeders whose apparent characteristics appear similar yet potential response to distributed photovoltaics is drastically different. The feeder's response to distributed generation is dependent on more than voltage class and loading. Each feeder's ability to host PV and stay within distribution planning limits is unique. Analysis results of these two feeders will illustrate that a fixed percentage of load, such as 15% of peak, can be a severe under- or over-estimation of a feeder's true PV hosting capacity.
