Finite element analysis for the residual stress of plate during straightening process

According to the process parameters of 2# straightening machine(11 rolls straightening machine),the 3-D dynamic finite element model of the steel in straightening process was established by using the FEA software. The straightening force of each roll on the plate were derived first and compared with the simulation data to verify the reasonableness of the model. The regulation of the stress distribution on the cross section of the steel during straightening and the effect of different rolling schedules to the residual stress of steel were analyzed. The simulation results indicate that in the straightening process, the stress of the plate spread from the head to the rear of the rolled steel,in form of stress-wave,while the stress along the longitudinal direction caused by the repeated bending of the longitudinal fiber plays a leading role.Appropriate elevating the position of the 1# roll could improve the distribution of the residual stress of the steel plate, and the quality of the plate.
