Lemierre's syndrome following mastoiditis

Lemierre's syndrome (postanginal sepsis) is characterized by anaerobic septicemia, septic thrombophlebitis, and metastatic lesions, most frequently involving the lungs after an oropharyngeal infection. We report a case of Lemierre's syndrome following mastoiditis. Early diagnosis and treatment with surgical drainage followed by prolonged antibiotic therapy produced a good clinical outcome.
