3 D Mesh Segmentation and Smooth Surface Extraction through Region Growing

SURANAREE Abstract—This paper presents an algorithm for 3D triangle mesh segmentation. Segmentation is one of the main areas of 3D object modeling. The algorithm presented in this paper is based on Region Growing. We present manual landmark for mesh segmentation which require only a small number of B-spline control points on surface domains to cut mesh and define region of segmentation. The output results show the effectiveness and practicability of the algorithm.
