Simulation of STATCOM reactive compensation based on direct current control

In order to improve the grid power factor and compensate for reactive power,this paper adopts a static synchronous compensator(STATCOM),which can not only detect and compensate for reactive current according to the real-time change of grid reactive current,but also maintain the current phase and voltage phase of grid consistent.The paper focuses on studying the core algorithm of STATCOM,proposes a mode of direct current control based on d-q transformation,and conducts a systematic STATCOM simulation using MATLAB tools.The study result shows that STATCOM maintains the current phase and voltage phase of power grid consistent and improves the power factor of power grid under given conditions.The direct current control mode of the STATCOM has fast response,good reactive power compensation advantages,which improve the grid power factor.
