Creation of Web-based user interface for supercomputing environment

The design and realization of a user application platform for a series of high performance computers (HPCs) via the Internet (a portal) are presented. The goal of this platform is to achieve transparent access to any HPC, provided in our center via the Internet. A cluster was set up to simulate the environment of supercomputing and act as the testbed of this application platform, which is divided into two modules: a user computing service and a system administration service. The idea of accessing heterogeneous HPCs with the same Web-based user interface is being implemented. Because the final goal is to develop a computational grid, technology of the grid, its middleware, Globus, and its toolkit, are also introduced briefly. A comparison between our portal and others is discussed.
