A novel load transfer scheme in an Indian urban area

This paper proposes a peak load management scheme to transfer certain consumers onto local non embedded generators during peak load period and improve the voltage profile correspondingly alleviating the voltages at nodes where the voltage is less than the specified value. These non-embedded generators depending on operating characteristics and location, can mitigate under voltage profile and help maintain an optimum voltage profile. Algorithms have been proposed and discussed for determining the best location for the non-embedded generators along with determining the optimum number of generators required. Finally, simulations are presented to show the performance of the system for a real Indian distribution system.
