Ambient Noise Measurements in Mississippi Sound

Abstract : During the spring, summer, and fall of 2004, underwater ambient noise measurements were conducted in the Mississippi Sound. The Naval Research Laboratory, Stennis Space Center (NRL--Stennis) and the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies (IMMS) collaborated in acquiring acoustic ambient noise data at eight (8) sites in the Mississippi Sound. The sites were chosen to represent sites of expected high anthropomorphic noise sources and a control site with few or no expected anthropomorphic noise sources.
