Progress in the Preventive Approach to Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip

Now that the true nature of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) has been recognized, efficient triple prevention prognosis can be developed, comprising directions for normal hip development and earliest possible detection and safe treatment of initial displacements and hypoplasias in newborns and infants. An average threefold decrease in this condition was achieved in both prevalence and incidence of surgery. Experience has shown the importance and benefit of interdisciplinary cooperation: pediatrie, orthopaedic, and obstetric, including teaching of the medical staff and education of parents, as well as attainment of healthcare funds.
