A validation set-up of turbine blade materials and structures

In the first part of this publication, a validation set-up for thermally loaded actively cooled plane structures is presented. This set-up is equipped with optical heating, temperature and deformation measurement capabilities for the thermally loaded structure and could e.g. be applied to flat turbine blade wall structures. Motivations for such tests are e.g.:  test of turbine blade materials (including thermal barrier coatings) under realistic cyclic thermal loading  providing validation data for CFD and Finite Element turbine blade analyses In the second part of this publication, exemplary thermal and structural Finite Element analyses of a generic turbine blade under optical heating are shown.
