THE INFLUENCE OF ASPHALT PAVEMENT LAYER PROPERTIES ON VIBRATION TRANSMISSION

The paper presents a procedure for determining response functions relating dynamic load inputs and vibration velocity response outputs of the pavement soil system. A multifrequency backcalculation procedure was used to determine the frequency-dependent properties of asphalt concrete (AC) and soft subgrade (SG). The results of these tests can be used to backcalculate pavement layer moduli. Amplitudes of frequency domain velocities calculated by the model have been compared with that calculated by the measured data. The results of the sensitivity analysis presented have shown that AC thickness and Young Modulus variations influence the response of the pavement soil system to a dynamic load.
