Computational Electromagnetics in Service of Polarimetric Phased Array Radar Calibration - What Causes the Differential Phase bias?

Calibration of the planar polarimetric phased array radar for weather purposes is angle dependent. Yet measuring of all parameters required to calibrate polarimetric variables is impractical for large radar antennas. Here, an alternative computational electromagnetic modeling approach is considered. We use a full size demonstrator of larger polarimetric radar for evaluation of polarimetric biases expected in the larger array. Particularly, we attempt identification of the bias sources in the differential phase measurements.
