Exploring the Use of an Information Visualization Tool for Decision Support under Uncertainty and Risk

In this paper, we present an evaluation study as part of the research effort toward the development of RiDeViz. RiDeViz is an information visualization tool designed to support decision-making under uncertainty and risk. We studied how people use the proposed interactions and visual presentations of information of RiDeViz to arrive at final decisions through a qualitative user study. Study findings provide valuable insights into the benefits and limitations of each feature of RiDeViz for decision support under uncertainty and risk. They also allow us to explore the tasks performed and information used by participants to inform and justify their decisions.
