This paper reports the natural and artificial radionuclide contents in seabed surface sediments collected from 8 sampling sites in the southern and eastern sea areas of Hong Kong, which have been analysed by using a high purity germanium γ-ray spectrometer. The U-238, Ra-226, Th-232 and K-40 concentrations were respectively 44.1, 32.5, 48.1 and 625 Bq/kg and the variations in different sites were not significant. The mean concentration for Cs-137 is 2.00 Bq/kg, with the mean value for the southern sea area higher than that for the eastern sea area
