Low complexity optical DQPSK receiver with enhanced tolerance to transmission impairments

A low complexity DQPSK receiver based on frequency discriminator demodulator is demonstrated experimentally, showing 2x enhanced tolerance to fiber chromatic dispersion, and 4-dB higher nonlinear threshold to Gordon-Mollenauer effect compared with conventional delay-interferometer based receiver.
