Computational complexity tradeoffs in HEVC motion estimation

The paper reports the results of the experiments conducted on the HEVC encoder, regarding the complexity and performance of the motion estimation algorithm. The research focuses on the search range of motion vectors and its influence on the encoding time of the video with the use of a HEVC encoder, as well as on the method for choosing the starting point of the motion estimation algorithm. Performance is measured as the time reduction and Bjontegaard metric bitrate reduction.
